Community Development

PEACE CORPS MACEDONIA

As a community development specialist with Peace Corps Macedonia I had the opportunity to build relationships between local stakeholders, develop new community projects, coordinate the Young Men’s Leadership Project, and help increase the civic engagement and leadership of Macedonia youth.

My work in Macedonia was broad, and included: creating one of the first female led NGOs in Štip, Macedonia, increasing funding opportunities for local NGOs and CSOs, supporting increased communication between the civil society and local government, and the one on one support of Macedonia youth as they made their dreams a reality.

Additionally, I serve as a member of Peace Corps Macedonia’s Diversity and Inclusion Working Group, and as a founding member of the Economic Development Working Group.  The Diversity and Inclusion Working Group supports staff and volunteers with Peace Corps Macedonia on issues of identity, inclusion, marginalization, and diversity both within the organization and their communities.  The Economic Development Working Group develops and delivers curriculum on entrepreneurship, project design, management, and evaluation, and start-ups.  Our curriculum has primarily been delivered at the American Corners in Macedonia.
